Start with the scope, not a headline price
Two quotes for “roof cleaning” can describe quite different work. One may cover moss removal only; another may include access equipment, gutter clearance, debris collection and treatment. Comparing the totals before checking those details can be misleading.
David quotes for the property and the work agreed. We do not publish a price range that might be mistaken for an offer without seeing your roof. Instead, use the questions below to obtain a quote you can compare.
The main cost factors
- Roof area and layout: several pitches, dormers, valleys or extensions can involve more positioning and careful work than one open slope.
- Access: ground conditions, side passages and obstacles affect how equipment can be positioned.
- Condition: a roof needing repair may not be ready for cleaning. Existing defects should be flagged first.
- Build-up: the amount and distribution of moss affect the work involved.
- Agreed extras: treatment, gutter clearance and the final clear-up need a stated scope.
What to send for an initial discussion
Take a wide front photograph, a wide rear photograph and a picture of the available side access. Add your postcode and tell us about a conservatory, solar panels or shared boundaries. Photos should be taken from a safe place at ground level.
You do not need to estimate the roof’s surface area by climbing or measuring at height. If you have approximate property dimensions or previous survey information, mention them without treating them as a substitute for assessment.
Questions to put beside every quote
Ask whether access equipment is included, which roof sections will be cleaned and how debris will be managed. Clarify the treatment product if one is proposed, what changes it is expected to make and whether any revisit is included. Obtain the agreed scope in writing before booking.
A low figure that leaves out necessary access or final gutter clearance may not be comparable with a more complete quotation. Conversely, a higher price is not proof of a better method. The description of the work is what lets you judge.
